Statistical and Applied Mathematical
What inspired you to pursue a career in STEM?
Love of math and curiosity about how to use math to extract information from data lead me to pursue a career in Statistics.
What is the coolest project you have worked on and why?
One of the cool things about being a statistician is that there are so many opportunities to collaborate with other scientists, basically anywhere there is data a statistician can contribute. For example, I worked on a paleoclimate reconstruction where we estimate temperatures for the last 400 years using borehole temperature data. The cool thing about that project was that we combined a model from physics with a statistical model and therefore used knowledge and strengths from both fields.
Role models and heroes:
I have had many great teachers who have become my role models, but the most influential one is my PhD advisor, Dr. Mark Berliner.
Advice for future STEMinists?
It is never too late to become a STEMinist.
